Support for local authorities

Together for Humanity and the Belong Network have jointly developed a short guidance document for local government bodies and related services.

The current situation in Israel and Palestine has led to a range of effects in communities across the UK, which have proved challenging for local authorities to respond to. This guidance emerged as a result of widespread requests for support from local government officers, elected representatives and related service providers.

It seeks to support them by capturing some of the key principles and elements of good practice that can inform our response to these challenges.

Support for schools

We’ve been working with partners to support teachers and school leaders with navigating tension and difficult conversations in the classroom.

A curated list of resources that serve as starting points for teachers on contentious topics in schools, including on Israel and Palestine, has been collated by partners in the campaign along with Association for Citizenship Teaching (ACT) and the National Association of Teachers of Religious Education (NATRE).

We’re also hosting a series of webinars for teachers featuring expert guidance and in-depth discussion on supporting dialogue in schools.

Our most recent webinar featured experts from the Association for Citizenship Teaching, Faith and Belief Forum, Facing History & Ourselves UK, and Solutions Not Sides. It explored practices that have worked and resources around navigating contentious topics in schools, including ongoing conflicts in Israel and Palestine.

Support for universities

We’ve worked with a number of partners to develop guidance for universities dealing with tensions on campus relating to the Israel-Palestine conflict. You can download the latest guidance below.
